Combine multimodal elements strategically to convey messages with clarity, emotion and intention.
Indicators for this outcome
| (a) | Plan multimodal compositions by selecting and intentionally combining elements (e.g., text, visuals, sound, movement) in ways that support purpose, audience, message and tone across modes (see Appendix K). |
| (b) | Combine modes thoughtfully (e.g., visual imagery, sound effects, text, movement, narration) to guide the audience’s attention, deepen understanding and strengthen accessibility or emotional effect (see Appendix K). |
| (c) | Combine design features (e.g., colour palettes, font size and style, white space, transitions, image placement) to create emphasis, rhythm or emotion (see Appendix K). |
| (d) | Reflect on how changes in one element (e.g., altering tone of voice, background visuals) influence the interpretation of other elements and the overall cohesion of the composition. |
| (e) | Revise compositions to improve the relationship between elements, ensuring that each serves a clear purpose within the whole. |
| (f) | Apply accessibility strategies when combining modes (e.g., using captions with video, high contrast visuals with clear text, alt-text for images) to ensure clarity, usability and inclusion for all audiences (see Appendix K). |
| (g) | Consider cultural diversity, emotional safety and audience perspectives when making design choices, reflecting on how language, imagery and form may include, exclude or impact audiences. |
