Indicators for this outcome
| (a) | Pose purposeful questions that invite clarification, deeper analysis or new perspectives on a composition, idea or theme (see Appendix I). |
| (b) | Explain interpretations using evidence from texts and personal experience while remaining open to feedback and alternative viewpoints. |
| (c) | Engage in a variety of collaborative discussion formats (e.g., talking circles, debates, fishbowl discussion, peer conferencing, online forums) to engage in focused dialogue and deepen understanding. |
| (d) | Engage in conversations to analyze an author’s/creator’s message and craft techniques and how they impact the audience. |
| (e) | Explain ideas, interpretations or creative choices based on insights gained through discussion or conferencing. |
| (f) | Demonstrate respect for diverse perspectives by acknowledging differing opinions and lived experiences, using inclusive language and maintaining a constructive tone during disagreement. |
